Clearwater River Spring Chinook Report

Clearwater River Spring Chinook – It has been great to have Springers in our backyard once again. Since our last report fishing has progressed and we have been having great success. Today (5/31/22) we had 4 salmon boats running and all boats put every guest on fish, limits all around. We are just coming off a blow out that happened this past weekend, and we expect fishing to remain good to excellent for the rest of the season. IDFG has left the entire Clearwater open for another week. As such, we have extended our calendar into June 14th.

On Friday June 3rd we need 1-3 anglers to fill a boat for Clearwater Chinook.

Grande Ronde Smallmouth Bass – Get in on this popular float trip down one of the area’s most scenic rivers catching loads of smallmouth bass. With higher water than normal for this time of year, Mid June should be prime for kicking off this fishery. We have multiple boats available for this fishery so we can accommodate groups of up to 6 people. Its not uncommon to see elk, deer, big horn sheep, and 50 or more bass caught in a day.

Clearwater River Spring Chinook Fishing Report

Clearwater River Spring Chinook – For the first time in 4 or 5 years it is looking like we will be providing trips on the Clearwater River for the prized spring Chinook. The Idaho Fish & Game commission met last week to set the season. Based on forecast numbers and a quota of around 2,500 fish, the commission voted to open the season 7 days a week with a 1 adult 3 jack limit. Fishing generally will pick up mid May depending on run timing and we are hopeful we will be able to fish through the first week of June. This all depends on quota catch and what the run actually comes in as. Since this is the first season in many years we expect to fill boats fairly fast so be sure to get your trip booked early. The calendar will be open from May 15 to June 8 with adjustments made as the run progresses.

Clearwater River Chinook / Coho Report

Clearwater River –
2021 will be the third season on the Clearwater where we will be able to harvest fall Chinook. There will be a few changes to the season this year:Limit will be 3 adults (clipped/hatchery or unclipped/wild) up from only being able to harvest 1 unclipped/wildFishing will occur 7 days a week instead of 4 daysWe expect to see a run similar to last year. Prime time will be Sept. 26th to Oct. 14th

Clearwater River Coho –
Last year anglers that fished with us Sept. – Nov. know that the lower Clearwater was chocked full of Coho jacks. We often saw all rods loaded with these jacks on every drift. Based on this huge jack run we expect to see our largest Coho adult return ever. Counts over Bonneville Dam are backing our expectations. IDFG has forecasted the Clearwater River Coho return to be 14,000 fish, nearly double last year’s return of 7,797.
The limit for Coho:2 adults clipped or unclippedUnlimited jacksBoth of these fisheries will provide some great fishing in early October. We are taking bookings now for combo Chinook and Coho trips. Hooking into some HOT steelhead during this trip occurs frequently too!
