Walleye, Sturgeon, Smallmouth Bass Fishing Report

This past month we have been fishing hard for a variety of different species. We have had boats running at Dworshak, on the Snake River in Hells Canyon and at Lyons Ferry, and did a short season on the Columbia for Spring Chinook. Fishing has been good in all locations. We had an epic season at Dworshak, our best yet. Multiple 6+ pound fish were caught along with two 8 pounders. As the time frame to target these fish winds down we anticipate even bigger fish next year as our Kokanee population is larger than average this year.

On the Snake River we have been catching our river monsters (Sturgeon), seems like our average size just keeps getting bigger and bigger every season. 8-9’6″ fish being pulled in on each trip with some smaller fish being thrown into the mix. Smallmouth on the river has been lagging this year. We haven’t had the spring runoff as usual so our water conditions are much different than what we would normally see this time of year. Each trip keeps getting better and we expect a light switch to flip on any day.

Yesterday Toby fished Lyons Ferry for walleye and catfish. Our guests weren’t disappointed. 10 cats and 11 walleye were caught. We are now into the post-spawn of these fish and catching should become a little more consistent.
